LBP-001
This pillar is painted beautiful turquoise blue that gets darker and more blue-gray-black towards the bottom, just like the sea. The interior of the niche is gradated in grays as well. For us, these carved niches with the arched top offer a feeling of an ancient, sacred space. The smoky gray really enhances that mood. The found objects are stacked with obvious care and deep appreciation for the simple beauty of the shell with it's exquisite details. The shell itself functions as a mandala, a geometrically patterned element, the focal point of a meditation. It balances perfectly above several curved pieces of tumbled, vintage blue glass. Because these protrude from the niche, the glass can catch the light.
Framed in a contemporary black floater frame which leaves a gap between the inside edge of the frame and outside edge of the art so that visually you feel the pillar as a 3D object itself.
Looks stone-like and heavy but weighs only 12 pounds, easily hung on a standard three nail picture hook.
61.5 inches long x 7.5 inches wide x 3-4 inches deep.
