The pieces in this collection have an intriguing pattern. They have the organic look of hand-loomed textiles, with personality woven in rather than being mechanically exacting. We've found people have to touch it to figure it out, at which point they realize it's modulated acrylic paint, deeply applied. This image almost glows with shades of orange and terracotta colors. The row of stones and recycled fair trade beads that are combined into little stacks are set in a row along a thin, hard brown reed. Jeweler's epoxy keeps all the pieces in place. The center piece features a cairn made of one of the larger stones, topped with a glass bead and a small tumbled triangle of glass from a hand blown vase found at a thrift store in Connecticut. We are always on the lookout to give old glass a new chance to be appreciated.
The canvas is framed in a contemporary black wood floater frame, with the image forward rather than recessed.
Hangs easily on a standard picture frame hook. 10 pounds.18 inches high x 42 inches wide x 2 inches deep.
